Chief Executive Officer
Brendon has over 26 years of developed and emerging market experience. He spent his early years in investment banking in London, with firms including JP Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, and Citibank. In 2006, Brendon was appointed Managing Director, and later became a Shareholder, of Inter-Ocean Management Limited, a Mauritian Offshore Management Company licensed by the Financial Services Commission. Inter-Ocean Management Limited was successfully sold to the Maitland Group, and rebranded Maitland (Mauritius) Limited in 2012. In 2014, Brendon co-founded the Adansonia Group, which continues to focus on providing value added solutions to a range of international investment funds, corporates, family offices and high net worth individuals from the United Kingdom, Africa, Middle East, Australia, United States and Southeast Asia. In 2021, Brendon relocated to Singapore to set up operations for the Adansonia Group. He currently serves on inter alia the boards of Denham Capital’s African mining fund, Alphamin Resources Corporation (a DRC based tin producer listed on Toronto Stock Exchange) and Adansonia Fund Manager Private Limited, a Singaporean Registered Fund Management Company.
Chief Investment Officer
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa in the mid 1980s, Rudolf spent 12 years in investment banking with the RMB group, whereafter he formed Treacle Private Equity with two partners in 2000. Treacle managed two successful PE funds with upper quartile returns up to 2016, including two highly successful technology start-ups which generated outsize returns. Rudolf relocated to Mauritius in 2011 where he is a co-founder of the Adansonia Group which provides financial services to investors into Africa and a permanent capital entity that co-invests in African private equity opportunities. He presently serves on inter alia the boards of Denham Capital’s African mining fund, Alphamin Resources Corporation (a DRC based tin producer listed on Toronto Stock Exchange), and Bank Zero (a fintech start-up bank in South Africa).
Jon has a wide range of experience in human resources, remuneration, governance, financial services, strategic planning and execution. This experience is supplemented by extensive knowledge of Asian markets, business practices and cultures. His career highlights include leadership roles with Mercer and Willis Towers Watson as well as establishing the Asian business for Vanguard Investments. Jon serves as an Independent Director for investment funds and managers as well as an M&A advisory firm. His qualifications include being a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
James spent several years in South Africa and Singapore with Trafigura, one of the world’s largest commodity trading companies, working in oil risk and market analysis for Africa and the Far East. James sits on the board of APEO and in 2016 he co-founded a PE fund in South Africa that has successfully invested in ed-tech, fin-tech, property, retail and pharmaceuticals. In 2020 he was a founding seed investor of The Invigilator, a smartphone application that utilizes AI to mitigate online assessment risk and protect academic integrity. James assisted in The Invigilator’s rapid growth to more than one million users by the end of 2021 and in the partial sale of the company to an international PE fund at a 100x plus return for early investors. In 2022 James co-founded the Adansonia Tech Fund and is the promotor of the fund.
PJ has spent several years in Private Equity investments, originally with Duxton Asset Management, a spin-off from Deutsche Asset Management. During this time, she focused on soft commodities, and was involved in investment management and exits for investments across Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and some parts of Asia. Subsequent to this, PJ joined SEEDS Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore, where she focused on deal activities across deep tech (involving R&D), and platform tech (SaaS) companies. She sat on the board as an observer to several of these companies.
